Description

BEST NOVEL OF THE YEAR, BRITISH FANTASY SOCIETY • Discover the magical beginning of Piers Anthony’s enthralling Xanth series

Xanth was the enchanted land where magic ruled—where every citizen had a special spell only he could cast. It was a land of centaurs and dragons and basilisks.

For Bink of North Village, however, Xanth was no fairy tale. He alone had no magic. And unless he got some—and got some fast!—he would be exiled. Forever. But the Good Magician Humfrey was convinced that Bink did indeed have magic. In fact, both Beauregard the genie and the magic wall chart insisted that Bink had magic. Magic as powerful as any possessed by the King or by Good Magician Humfrey—or even by the Evil Magician Trent.

Be that as it may, no one could fathom the nature of Bink’s very special magic. Bink was in despair. This was even worse than having no magic at all . . . and he would still be exiled!

Thus begins Piers Anthony’s enthralling Xanth series. . . .

Painfully misogynistic. It appears to be an intentional screws against women. Or per chance an experiment to see how many demeaning concepts or child-man actions can be laid upon the pages of a book.

I love this book and this series. Tons of fun and the characters are wonderful. The story is compelling and the land imaginative and magical. Read it four times and will read it many more. Recommend to all mature, fantasy loving audiences.

I haven't read this book in many MANY years. Let me just say that it is even more beautifully sculpted than I remember. So many wonderful images play in my mind as I read through this again. A true classic and must read for any lover of Fantasy and Magic. The only issue I have is the continuous spelling errors within this release of it. I find it a bit insulting to the author and his work to take such little care in properly spelling the words he crafted.

I started reading this series when I was 10, and now at 25 I have yet to find a series as vibrant. The stories are deeply compelling and the characters are intricate, yet the whole experience is refreshing. You won't be sorry with this buy.

Anyone who reads this book will not be able to stop until you've read the entire series. It's not your garden variety of fantasy and is more fun than anything else you could read. I would recommend it to all ages. I'm on my second reading and I'm a grandmother - already on book 5. Going to start reading it to my 6 year old grandson. Try it!
